VS Code and terminals

Code opens VS Code on the project folder, running inside the box (openvscode-server, same editor as VS Code for the Web): search, Git view, integrated terminal (extensions from Open VSX via Ctrl+Shift+X; the Extensions icon and the remote indicator are hidden, everything here is remote). The server starts the first time you open the pane (a few seconds) and stops with the box; Restart relaunches it and Open in new tab gives it a whole window. Settings and extensions you install live in the box, so they survive Stop → Resume and travel with snapshots; the agent sees the same files, so its edits show up as you watch. VS Code's own AI features (Copilot chat, agent mode, inline completions) are turned off in the box so there is one agent per session, the one in the chat; flip chat.disableAIFeatures in VS Code's settings if you want them back. No Get Started page either.

Files the chat names are links into that editor: a project path in a reply, a prompt or a tool call (src/App.tsx, /workspace/src/App.tsx:42, src/App.tsx:42:7, src/App.tsx#L42) opens the file in the Code pane, at that line and column; the Read / Edit tool rows link the file they touched. Videos, images and PDFs keep their inline card instead. Bare filenames without a folder (index.ts) are left alone in prose unless they carry a :line, to avoid turning every mention into a link.

Terminal (in the header's ⋯ menu) opens a shell in the project folder inside the box; open as many tabs as you want. Reloading the page keeps the terminals and their scrollback. Copy and paste work like in a desktop terminal: select text and press Ctrl+C (with a selection it copies; without one it interrupts, as usual), Ctrl+Shift+C or Ctrl+Insert; paste with Ctrl+V, Ctrl+Shift+V or Shift+Insert (⌘C / ⌘V on a Mac). Right-click for a menu with Copy, Paste, Select all and Clear — the desktop app has no browser menu, so this is the mouse route there too. Paste from the menu needs a secure page (127.0.0.1 or https), which is where browsers allow reading the clipboard; the keyboard shortcuts work everywhere.

Color themes

Pick a theme under Global settings → Interface → Color theme: Sessionboxer Dark (the default) and Light, GitHub, Catppuccin, Solarized, Dracula, Nord, One Dark — eleven, light and dark. Follow the system takes a light and a dark choice and switches with your operating system. The whole window follows — chat, terminal, diagrams, code blocks, the desktop's frame — and so does the VS Code in the Code pane: it starts in the theme you have and switches live when you change it, since the same palette is shipped into the box as a VS Code color theme. The choice is per browser (stored in it, not in config.json), so a phone and a laptop can differ; two browsers on the same session's VS Code will each impose their theme on it in turn, and a theme picked in VS Code's own picker is overridden by the session's. Needs the current image for a fresh box; an older box gets the themes on Stop → Resume.
